Kirsten Deirup & Lizzy Wetzel at Road Agent

Road Agent is pleased to announce I Can Only Give You Everything, an exhibition of new work by artists Kirsten Deirup and Lizzy Wetzel. A reception for the artists will be held on November 4th from 6 to 9 pm.
Though formally distinct, each of the artists infuses a sense of magic and psychic debris into the work that while fantastical, isn’t afraid to explore the darker aspects of contemporary existence. Haunting and full of rejoice, the spiritual nature of space is broken open before us.
Brooklyn-based artist Kirsten Deirup’s oil paintings depict dreamlike landscapes that are sublime — each work echoes with a vivacious depth. Fusing spirits, architecture, devotion, and cultural wreckage, the work explores dissolution and redemption. Abandoned structures take on new rapturous lives in the absence of human participation and its failed modernity. Since receiving her BFA from Cooper Union, she has had solo exhibitions at Rare Gallery and Guild & Greyshkul in New York.
Lizzy Wetzel received her BFA from the University of North Texas, and continues to work in Texas. While her multidisciplinary work invokes drawing, sculpture, and painting, her primary medium may well be an overwhelming spiritual energy radiating from each object. Organically mixing personal relics, animal bones, and mysticism, her work is akin to an expansive prayer made physical. Wholly sincere, it is a shamanistic celebration of our shared nature and experience.
